Field Schools

Field research is at the heart of anthropology and geography, and our department’s long-running, selective summer field schools provide hands-on experience where you apply classroom knowledge in real-world settings. You’ll learn key methods and applied skills used in cultural resource management, archaeology, paleontology, museum work, and related careers.

Study Abroad

Faculty-led abroad classes combine immersive short-term travel with online study that allow students to learn about classical archaeology, ancient and modern food systems, cultural heritage, human travel and borders, and more. Department abroad courses travel to the United Kingdom, Italy, and Belgium in addition to other programs through our college.

Community Engagement

Our students and faculty support and coordinate school and community outreach through the Anthropology and Geography Trunk Show. Students support hands-on activities and learning experiences during field trips, school visits, community events, and other opportunities to foster awareness of anthropology and geography careers and contributions.

Student Organizations & Community

The undergraduate Anthropology Club and Geography Club are open to all interested students and community members. Clubs meet several times a month throughout the school year and host and participate in a range of social, academic, and professional-development activities.

Scholarships & Awards

Anthropology and Geography and CSU offer a range of specialized funds to help department undergraduates and graduate students cover or offset costs and expenses associated with attending college, conducting research, participating in field and abroad programs, conferences, and other travel.
