The Department of Anthropology and Geography offers an anthropology major with three optional concentrations, a geography major, and two minors in anthropology and geography
BA in Anthropology
In the undergraduate anthropology program, students learn about human cultural and biological variation, in the past and present. We are focused on understanding the structure of the social, environmental, political, and economic systems in which humans operate. Students participate in interdisciplinary research on human-environment interactions, globalization and development, and health and well-being.
BS in Geography
In the undergraduate geography program, students learn about human-environment interactions with a focus on global change in mountain systems. Students learn how to "think like a geographer" in that connections between people and the environment are addressed from a spatial perspective and approached with geospatial technologies (GIS and Remote Sensing) in order to solve real-world problems.
